Hey there, my name is Joe! You may know me from my YouTube channel My Little Thought Tree where I draw on my expertise as a children’s therapist and a writer to analyze films, TV, and stories from both a literary and psychological perspective.
If you’ve made your way here, you’re likely interested either in my writing or my services as an editor. This is a space for both!
My Little Thought Tree
My Background
For all my life, I have been writing stories. Ever since the age of 12, it was my dream to become an author. Pretty much since then, I have worked on creative project after project. Rarely did I finish any of them but I got better at writing with each attempt; promising myself I would take all the time I could do learn and grow before daring to publish. As such I began a BA in literature and creative writing where I received a first. Still not a world famous author, it was time to think more realistically about my career prospects. That’s where therapy came along…
I had received therapy myself for depression in my late teens. Knowing how much of a difference it had made to my life, I’d always been interested in doing the same for others in return. I switched from to a post grad diploma and then MA in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy where I again received a first, began work as a children’s therapist, and have continued to grow ever since. I love working as a therapist. I love being able to make a difference and the job has taught me a lot about both myself and other people. Writing has always been my no.1 passion, however. Luckily, the two interests came hand-in-hand when I turned to YouTube.
My Little Thought Tree began as a fun experiment but quickly ballooned into a channel that now has over 170k subscribers. I have followed my passion for criticism and analysis of characters and stories. I enjoy breaking down the meaning in stories, what works, what doesn’t, and even sometimes providing insight on how to fix problems. You can find all of my videos here:

As a result of my content, a lot of people have reached out to me, asking if I’m able to help with their stories. It’s not something I’ve ever advertised for but it is a passion of mine. I have so far helped six different people with their projects but never made space in my work schedule to take on more. As requests for help having continued flooding in, it’s time I did make space for editing services. As such, here is a website all for it.
For those of you hoping I might be able to provide therapy, I’m afraid it’s not something I offer online. For reasons of privacy and confidentiality, I keep therapy work entirely separate from my online presence, meaning I take on clients only through the schools or clinics in which I work, rather than through my channel.
